In August of 2003 I decided enough was enough. No more eating bagels and doughnuts every morning for breakfast, burgers and burritos for lunch everyday and pizza and pasta every night for dinner. This is what I was eating at the time -- with absolutely NO exercise! It was not until I met Pat Murphy that this all changed. I first met Pat when he came into my place of work to give a quick seminar on core training and nutrition. Having been through this type of sales 'hype' before, I was skeptical at first. After about 30 minutes though, I could tell he was the real deal - that he truly cares in helping people, people like me who needed it and feel trapped.
My training with Pat started in September of that year. At the time I weighed 262 pounds and had 38% body fat. Between the training sessions with him, starting a food journal (which I highly recommend) and staying on top of my cardio workouts, I lost 60 pounds and 12% of body fat in one year's time. Pat kept me motivated through positive reinforcement and showing me results through his training methods. Today, I weigh 189 and have 19% body fat! Although I still have a little further to meet my ultimate goal (175lbs. 15% body fat), I have no doubt Pat will get me there. He has completely changed my life. Thanks Pat.

Pregnant with my third child at the ‘advanced maternal age’ of 40+, I dreaded gaining pregnancy weight because I knew (at my age) how much harder it would be to lose. In January of 2008, I was working out with Patrick when he noticed I was having sharp pains in my chest. Shortly thereafter, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I went through surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation. And Patrick stuck with me every single step of the way.
Cancer treatments can bring a variety of side effects but, because I had already been training with Patrick for a while, certain habits he had instilled in me left me better prepared for all of the physical obstacles I was about to go up against. Drinking lots of water, getting enough fiber, and exercising regularly enabled me to get through all of my body's changes remarkably well.
Patrick tailored our workouts to accommodate everything I was going through and always made sure that I felt comfortable. Because of his extreme care and attention to detail of every individual's different needs, I was able to keep training throughout all of my treatments. There were days when I had a million excuses to just stay in bed, but I never missed a single training session. Not too long ago, anyone could've safely bet that I'd be the last person they'd ever find in a gym. Now, working out is the most important part of my day. With all of the challenges that life naturally brings, exercise provides a stability and relaxation that keeps me focused and healthy.
One year later, I am cancer free and have come full circle into leading an improved life being more aware of my body and of my health. As many people do, I have a demanding schedule that doesn't leave a lot of free time. I made plenty of what I thought were valid excuses for not working out or eating right. After seeing how the lessons Patrick taught me literally saved my life, I cannot think of one good reason why I didn't make taking care of my health a top priority sooner.
Patrick inspires me to be more attentive and proactive on what I want my life to represent, how I want to affect people while I'm here, and what I want to leave behind. There is a lot of pressure in my business to be thin, without much consideration as how to get there. In the past, I didn't eat right (I skipped meals), and working out consisted of a yoga class or spinning twice a week. I had bad posture and I was always getting colds and feeling tired. Possessing a curvy figure, I was worried that weight training might bulk me up. It was not until I started training did I see how out of shape I really was. I was skinny, but had no muscle. Being a fashion model since the age of 17, I had been "trained" into thinking that (skinny) was best and (muscle) was bad. Being a young woman this was always a struggle for me as I am naturally thin, yet also tend to be a natural athlete as well. I grew up an active child and young adult. During my twenties I began partying so much that I didn't exercise for nearly ten years, and gained 30 pounds. I would only eat at Jack In The Box.... I began working with Patrick in September of last year. I was 15 pounds over weight from living the good life in Florence, Italy without so much as a real thought towards exercise. I was just so happy to be in Tuscany, having convinced my husband that living abroad would be such a wonderful experience for our family.
